The Digest Diet

That little four letter word that will drive you insane... DIET!

Yeah yeah yeah, I know... you've heard it all before.  There's a fad diet around every corner you turn and I've likely tried every single stinkin one of them!  The grapefruit diet, cabbage soup diet, Atkins, HCG, Apple Cider Vinegar, Dukan etc... Well a month or so back I was reading the Reader's Digest and there was a wonderful article about this diet that the Editor had devised and wrote a book about.  How she'd spent years and years compiling and researching what works... yeah, right - skinny thing that she is knows all about trying to lose weight.  And of course there were success stories involved to insprie the uninspired - like me.

What the heck, none of the others have worked, we'll give this one a whirl.  Of course in the Reader's Digest they didn't give details - you have to get the book.  To the library I went... they didn't have it, all the interlibrary resources had it checked out, so they bought it for me!

YAAY ME!!  A brand new book and I get to be the first to read it!

So about this new breakthrough diet... they're on crack, seriously.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading it for the simple fact that it was actually insightful, positive and inspiring in that it taught you to just be accepting of your body and to not beat yoruself up over little imperfections.

It's not meant to be a life long way of eating, just a jump start to losing the fat by eating what they deem to be the best foods for fat loss.  This is where the crack comes in... it's a 21 day plan to get the fat rollin'... I know they have success stories, but seriously, who's actually made it past day one?  The first four days all you're basically doing is drinking this high protein shake 2 times a day and then having some kind of mediocre snack like a green pepper with 2 tablespoons of ricotta cheese on each quarter.  So you're gonna take a 300 pound person and tell them they can only have 2 shakes and a green pepper for a snack?  I don't want to be anorexic, I just want to rid some of this extra weight!!!  Fools!

So, back to the basics of eating healthy and just plain exercising...
